You do not need an adapter
New Zealand uses the same Type I plug and the same 230 volts as Australia. Nothing in this kit is an adapter, because you do not need one, and we would rather tell you that than sell you one.
It is a small thing. It is also the kind of thing that tells you whether a packing list was written by someone who went.
Sandflies are not a joke
On the West Coast and through Fiordland, sandflies are relentless. They are the single most common complaint from first-time visitors and they will genuinely shorten a day outdoors. Repellent is not optional there, and it is the one thing we would add to this kit locally rather than carry from home.
Four seasons in a day is a description
The weather changes fast and drops sharply with altitude. The answer is layers you can take off, not one heavy coat you are stuck with. The UV is extreme even under cloud — the same ozone problem you already know about at home.
